Delivering efficiency through tailored multilingual prospectus production

A financial consulting firm specialised in advisory services for investment management and financial services sectors, approached us with a highly complex and evolving project: the multilingual translation of their full investment fund prospectus, including SFDR annexes. The scope was over 1.17 million words across more than 1,000 pages, to be translated from English into French, German, and Italian.

The challenge

This project revealed operational challenges:

The client was incurring excessive costs for desktop publishing (DTP) handled by a third-party provider.
There were no pre-existing translation memories.
The source content and formatting evolved over time, moving from Word documents to InDesign IDML files, with new file delivery requirements (clean Word, tracked changes, IDML, and PDFs).

The German version came with strict regulatory deadlines, demanding priority handling and accelerated turnaround times.

The approach

Meeting the demanding requirements of this project required not only linguistic expertise but also extensive planning to moveable deadlines, workflow adaptation, and close coordination.

To address this client’s unique needs, we delivered a customised solution that included:

Creation of linguistic assets from scratch. As translation memories were not available at onboarding, we performed a full alignment of previous German and French versions to ensure consistency and accuracy across versions.
Translation by native linguists specialised in regulatory finance into three languages (FR, DE, IT).
Multi-format deliverables: our experience in prospectus management allowed multiple compliance formats, including clean Word files, tracked changes and IDML versions.
Prioritisation and deadline management: our industry specific capabilities and workflows enabled us to deliver a compliant German version on time to meet strict regulatory submission deadlines.
Client review integration: all client feedback was reviewed and where compliant, were incorporated into the translations. This required careful version control and consistency tracking across all languages and updates.
